Amanda claims to have been a “picky eater” when she was young and the only cookie she would eat when her mom baked for Christmas was the sugar cookie. In 2008, she continued her mom’s tradition of making Christmas cookies with a friend of hers. Many people encouraged them to sell the product, but neither were interested in doing that. In 2012, she left teaching and began a new role in education as a team lead, while still baking for fun. One Valentine’s Day, the ladies decided to sell the cookies and ended up getting 30 orders! Amanda hasn’t looked back since and has been selling cookies in 2015. Her and her sister started using a certain recipe and Amanda has since modified it to near perfection!
Her home produced bakery was growing, so she decided to leave the corporate arena and bake full time! Shortly after, her husband followed in her footsteps after a long career in landscaping. Crazy right!? Some may say yes, but when you try a bite of their famous sugar cookie, you’ll understand why they decided to take the leap of faith!
Outside of their bakery, they run another successful business. One of the biggest reasons they decided to step out on their own was because they wanted to live a flexible lifestyle to be available to family and friends, while also giving them time to focus on both businesses. Working as a couple has been a dream of theirs since they were married, so it’s pretty neat to see that dream be fulfilled. However, I know this is only the beginning for this couple! The have pure hearts of gold. Amanda’s heart is full when she is able to see the look on customer’s faces upon pickup before they even taste the cookies. This proves the time, energy and love that goes into every cookie that is made. Chris and Amanda also enjoy hearing the reason each cookie or other treat is being purchased and allows them an opportunity to bless and pray for these people!
