Rosie’s Place – Zionsville, IN

My husband and I had the pleasure of eating at this gem a few months ago when we were meeting a friend for lunch! We’re not from the Zionsville area, so we asked our friend to give us a few suggestions. Without hesitation, he chose Rosie’s place, because it’s really popular and supposedly really good. And you know us, we’re always up for a new adventure, especially when it involves food!

Rosie’s place is located in the cute little town of Zionsville, Indiana. We had to park a bit down the road because it the area was so packed and they were doing some construction around the area. The restaurant itself is a good size, and very welcoming. When you walk in the door, you’re greeted by a counter full of delicious looking pastries! Even though I’m not a sweets person, I know a tasty looking treat when I see one! More to come on this later!

When it came to ordering our meals, I went with the Grilled Salmon Salad, and really liked it! It was different than most salads, because it had artichoke hearts (which I really enjoy), and capers (fantastic, but salty) on it. I don’t typically see that at other restaurants, but it was a nice addition and they definitely didn’t skimp on the toppings. The salmon was also really good and cooked to a nice medium!

My husband ordered the Southwest Chicken Sandwich. He said the flavor was good, but the chicken was a little dry. Our friend ordered the Pick 2. I didn’t pay much attention to the sandwich he got, but I think the soup of the day was a Tomato Soup, so he went with that and added an order of fries. The service was great and the environment was really calming. Yes, there were a lot of people in there, but I never felt like it was an overwhelming environment.

When we finished our meal, my husband was slightly tempted by all the sweets next to the register. Probably because I kept pointing things out and saying how good they looked (whoops!). He saw the ooey gooey cookies, which is one of their signature items, and he couldn’t resist! He ended up getting a Red Velvet, and the Original Ooey Gooey Butter flavor. As soon as we got in the car we had to try them!

I took the first bite and when I say a dessert is good, it’s good! It was soft, moist and as ooey gooey as you can get (without being runny). When I told my husband how good it was, he looked at me like really? You like it!? And he knew it was going to be amazing. He ate half of one and then tried the other because he wanted to save some for our family to try. Let’s just say, we left enough for them to each try a bite!

We would absolutely go back to Rosie’s Place! If we were in the area, but didn’t have time to stop for lunch, we would at least run in and grab some sweets! They had plenty of flavors of the Ooey Gooey Cookies, and also had plenty of other sweets!
