I’ve lived in Cincinnati my whole life and heard mention of, The View at Shires Garden, but never really felt a pull to eat there. Probably because I thought it was hoity-toity fancy and going to be way more than I wanted to pay for a meal! I always had this assumption that nice places charge way too much for the food, and you still leave hungry because it’s a cute little baby size plate of food. I’ve walked out of restaurants before where I wondered, “What did I just pay for!”
The past few years, I started becoming more and more into the food scene and started appreciating high quality food and service. Sometimes you do pay for the experience, but that’s all a part of eating out at a fine dining establishment. Don’t care about quality or service? Well, there are plenty of places for that too!
Every once in a while, I’ll search for new places to try, and that’s how I ended up looking at The View at Shires Garden. I thought it would be a cool experience, because it has a rooftop that overlooks some of the city, including the Reds and Bengals stadiums. I wanted to go, but just had a hard time pulling the trigger. My aunt and mom had also mentioned trying it, and it was close to my mom’s birthday, so I decided to plan a surprise brunch for her and a few of our close family/friends.
What an awesome time this was! My mom was completely surprised (whew!), and all the ladies had a blast. It was the perfect day so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view! The food was fantastic! You will pay a little more for the meals, but it is totally worth the experience at least one time!
The staff was extremely accommodating to our dietary needs and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. My cousin and I split the crab cakes benedict because we didn’t want a large meal. We were complicated because we wanted our eggs cooked a different way. Our order came out wrong a couple times (really our fault for complimenting things), but the waiter made sure to get it fixed without raising a stink. Truly was first class service!
There were 7 of us ladies and we ordered a variety of meals. I know between all of us, most of the main entrees were ordered and there were no complaints from the table! I do recommend the crab cakes and I know the Longworth’s Burger and the French Toast was a big hit as well!
If you are looking for a beautiful view of the city, and a neat atmosphere, head to The View at Shires Garden! Grab a couple friends or your significant other for Brunch or Dinner!
